MedPharm Tour and Panel

On June 20th, ACHE of Iowa members were treated to an exclusive tour of MedPharm Iowa’s cultivation facility in Des Moines.  MedPharm Iowa is the first manufacturer and dispensary of medical cannabis in Iowa. The company currently has products in three forms: Tincture, Capsule and Lotion.  While Iowa has a 3% cap on THC, these products come in a variety of compositions in which the ratio of THC to CBD varies.  There are currently five licensed dispensaries in Iowa – Windsor Heights, Sioux City, Council Bluffs, Waterloo and Davenport.

Following our tour, we held a roundtable discussion to address questions related to medical cannabis.  Discussion covered a wide array of topics, including common misconceptions about medical cannabis, access challenges for some Iowans, compliance and organizational policies and procedures, and the future of Medical Cannabis in Iowa.  The roundtable discussion was led by a panel consisting of Owen Parker (Program Manager at Iowa Department of Public Health), Kami Petitgoue (Senior Counsel at UnityPoint Health); Lucas Nelson (General Manager at MedPharm Iowa), Rebecca Lucas (Technical Development Manager at MedPharm Iowa), and Cat Anderson (Dispensary Specialist at MedPharm Iowa).
